Which log do you like better. I could do ether but I personally prefer the spreadsheet.
PS observing logs will no longer be posted on this page. Look for the sky logs page too see what I saw!
will be in captions from now on

ALL PICTURES WITH OUT IP LOG CAPTIONS ARE IN IP LOG XLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RGBL filters. Taken on 12/24/10 at 7:41 UT with a 36 sec exposer time. I cant take much credit for this because all I did was stack three RGB images using Salsa J. I was worried when I first got the pictures but once I played with brightness and contrast it came out well... you know.

Taken on 7/1/11 at 6:28 UT with 70 sec exposure time. Stacked RGB with Image J but couldn't align RGB planes (didn't have the plugin) so I stacked RGB with Salsa and aligned RGB planes. Moved to GIMP and added L and then adjusted brightness and contrast. Cropped out the bottom because of discoloration in one of the stacks. Adjusted the light curve and brightness and contrast.

La Palma, Roque de los muchachos

Stacked RGB in Maxim and it looked great. Stacked in LRGB but the RGB looked better (LRGB was tinted green). Used a low pass FFT filter to make the stars "Shiny". I tried using a plethora of other filters but to no avail. I tried adding darks to improve the quality of the image but when I added them and (surprisingly) they did nothing.

Stacked the RGBL in Maxim. Removed bloom and adjusted light curve to bring out the nebulosity.
Moved to Gimp and painted some of the stars white because of discoloration.

760 frames digitized with with Pinnicale Studio.
Taken an HDR monitor with a Stellacam 3 with the "Big Blue" Meade 10 in SC at GPN at 9:00 on May 4.
Uploaded to Registax and stacked it. Adjusted brightness and contrast and wavelet to brighten it up. Moved it to GIMP and brightened the picture using curves. The crater was over exposed so I colored it in with a transparent airbursh. In order to remove noise I blurred it with the smudge and blur tools.

Lowered the brightness to counteract the picture being over exposed. Used the eyedropper tool to select red and used curves to accent the red on the telescope.

Taken by Mrs. Herrold at Desert Peak Observatory with a Meade 14" SC with a SBIG SME ST-402ME CC. It was stacked in Maxim. Used low pass FFT filter to brighten the stars. Used color balence to add more red and green in the nebula. I had to raise the blue level too in order to cancel out the red and green in the background. I adjusted light curves to bring out the nebula.

Saturn

SaturnZk.jpg
10,080 frames of digitized footage.
Taken on May 10 with an HDR monitor and a Stellacam 3 at around 10:00 at GPN.
It was stacked in Registax. I adjusted wavelets with Registax. Moved to GIMP and lowered the brightness and contrast to darken the background and bring out Saturn's rings. Adjusted curves to bring out Saturn as a whole.

The hardest thing to do with this picture was stacking it. Because of a supermassive bloom Maxim got confused and started rotating and doing odd things too the picture. I had to use the manual stack feature. I chose the 2 star stack feature because it is more accurate. Once I got it stacked I noticed thousands of blooms and one moster bloom. When I tried to remove the blooms it, like before, got confused and started deleting everything. Unable to remove the monster bloom (I even resorted to the paint brush) I crop the picture and created a close up image of the two galaxies. I moved the picture to GIMP and adjusted levels and brightness and contrast to bring out the nebulosity. I adjusted color levels too bring out more blue because the picture had and ugly hue of green.
